Inlays / Onlays
Inlays / On-lays are indicated when numerous surfaces of a single tooth are decayed, filled or broken down and a conventional chair-side filling would not be adequately the best option to regain and restore the original shape and anatomy of the tooth.
The tooth is prepared (drilled) and an impression is taken from within the tooth, the impression is sent to a laboratory and typically two weeks later the inlay/onlay will be back to be tried and fitted with a special tooth cement within the tooth. Inlay/on-lays can be made in gold, resin composite or porcelain material.
